Summer Yoga & Hiking Retreat at Mulino Carletti

Northern Tuscany

28 September - 2 October 2024

£850

For the last three years I have been renovating Mulino Carletti, a two hundred year old water mill nestled by the rushing Torrente Segaccia in the chestnut forest clad Apeninne Mountains. There is a lot to do before my final vision for the Mulino is realised, but I’ve now reached a stage where I’m able to comfortably accommodate up to six guests for the first official stays.

Life at Mulino Carletti is where the unspoiled natural environment takes centre stage; by unplugging, slowing down and paying attention to the vast and rich wonder of the sky, earth and water that surrounds us together we’ll deepen our yoga and meditation practices, walk in rivers and forests, observe interconnectedness of all things. We will create (and eat) delicious authentic vegetarian Italian recipes using locally sourced produce - some harvested directly from my gardens! Together we will actively practice, cultivating peace, rest and gratitude for the abundance that a life in the mountains provides us.

This retreat is for people that love being immersed in nature, enjoy rustic charm and want to pitch in with cooking, like rambling through forests and streams, it’s not a lay by the pool and get your nails done kind of thing. If this sounds good to you - get in touch!

Digital Detox - There is no electricity, wifi or phone signal at the Mulino. Previous guests have commented on how powerful it is to witness the urge to reach towards their phones before realising there is no mood altering reward in doing so, allowing them to fully let go and be with themselves, each other and be present with where they are, in the here and now.

What’s included:

Pick Up and Drop Off from Ghivizzano-Coreglia Station.

Daily Active and Receptive Yoga practices, including Vinyasa, Yoga Philosophy, Mindfulness and Compassion Mediations and Yoga Nidra.

Your own room with comfortable double bed.

Three meals a day plus snacks / refreshments.

Three outdoor hiking activities.

There will be time for resting, sunbathing, jumping in the river pool, napping, reading, foraging, quiet time connecting with each other and enjoying the surroundings of the Mulino. One afternoon we’ll also make a local delicacy - hand made pasta made with chestnut flour.

Flights are not included. It is essential that participants book flights to arrive the morning of the first day to allow for mid afternoon Pick Up and to leave in the evening after 8pm of the last day to allow lunchtime departure. Due to the remote location, late arrivals and early departures cannot be accommodated. Guidance on suitable flights will be given. Pisa is the closest airport and on the train route to Ghivizzano. Trains go through the beautiful walled city of Lucca and I reccommend stopping here for lunch. There is nothing interesting at Ghivizzano, so don’t arrive there much before the pick up. There is however a little cafe by the station where you can grab refreshments but not a decent lunch. I would also encourage further travel within the region as it’s so beautiful and there’s a lot to see! Florence, Sienna and Pisa are all within easy reach. Previous guests have enjoyed extending their stay before or after the retreat, feedback has been that it’s a bit of a jolt going from tranquil but active practice in the mountains to bustling Florence - but the world is your oyster!
