Spring Yoga Hiking & Nature Retreats at Mulino Carletti

Northern Tuscany

May 30 - June 3

June 5 - June 9

For the last four years, I have been renovating Mulino Carletti, a two-hundred-year-old water mill nestled by the rushing Torrente Segaccia in the chestnut-forest-clad Apennine Mountains. There is still much to do before my final vision for the Mulino is realised, but it has reached a stage where I can comfortably accommodate up to six guests for retreats embedded in pristine mountain nature.

So far, twenty-four guests and I have co-created six separate retreats—so I can say my dream is now truly up and running—and I would love to share it with you. I say "co-created" because it is the open hearts of my guests that have truly shaped the retreat experience, and I am more grateful for this than I can put into words.

Life at Mulino Carletti is where the unspoilt natural environment takes centre stage. By unplugging, slowing down, and paying attention to the vast and rich wonders of the sky, earth, and water that surround us, we will deepen our yoga and meditation practices, walk in rivers and forests, and observe the interconnectedness of all things. We will create (and eat!) delicious, authentic vegetarian Italian recipes using locally sourced produce—some harvested directly from my gardens! Together, we will actively cultivate peace, rest, and gratitude for the abundance that life in the mountains provides.

This retreat is for people who love being immersed in nature, enjoy rustic charm, and want to pitch in to help create a shared group experience. It is for those who feel nourished by nature and yoga practices and who want to offer themselves time for introspection and growth.

Digital Detox

There is limited WiFi and phone signal at the Mulino. However, just a two-minute walk away is the "signal spot" in case the urge gets too strong and you need to touch base or phone home. Guests have commented on how powerful it is to witness the urge to reach for their phones, only to realise there is no mood-altering reward in doing so. This allows them to fully let go and be present—with themselves, with each other, and with the here and now.

This year, I am also offering the option to put your phone on retreat too—in a locked box! Notice what this idea brings up for you… and if it feels somewhat challenging, maybe this is an opportunity worth exploring!

Time for Activity, Time for Peace…

The retreat schedule offers a balance of group and private time, moments for celebration and silence, but above all, space for integration and connection with our precious existence on this beautiful planet.

£895

What’s included:

Pick Up and Drop Off from Ghivizzano-Coreglia Station.

Daily Active and Receptive Yoga practices, including Vinyasa, Yoga Philosophy, Mindfulness and Compassion Mediations and Yoga Nidra.

Your own room with comfortable double bed.

Three meals a day plus snacks / refreshments.

Three outdoor hiking activities.

There will be time for resting, sunbathing, jumping in the river pool, napping, reading, foraging, quiet time connecting with each other and enjoying the surroundings of the Mulino. One afternoon we’ll also make a local delicacy - hand made pasta made with chestnut flour.

Flights are not included. It is essential that participants book flights to arrive the morning of the first day to allow for mid afternoon Pick Up and to leave in the evening after 8pm of the last day to allow lunchtime departure. Due to the remote location, late arrivals and early departures cannot be accommodated. Guidance on suitable flights will be given. Pisa is the closest airport and on the train route to Ghivizzano. Trains go through the beautiful walled city of Lucca and I reccommend stopping here for lunch. There is nothing interesting at Ghivizzano, so don’t arrive there much before the pick up. There is however a little cafe by the station where you can grab refreshments but not a decent lunch. I would also encourage further travel within the region as it’s so beautiful and there’s a lot to see! Florence, Sienna and Pisa are all within easy reach. Previous guests have enjoyed extending their stay before or after the retreat, feedback has been that it’s a bit of a jolt going from tranquil but active practice in the mountains to bustling Florence - but the world is your oyster!

If you would like to come but these dates don’t work for you - please let me know - I have the possibility of arranging further retreats in the summer for 4-8 people, if you have a bunch of friends to pull together we can work out your own private retreat at Mulino Carletti.

Volunteering Retreat in July:

I am considering hosting a ‘Co-creative Volunteering Retreat’ in July where guests come at a reduced rate to cover costs and offer three hours of time each day for gardening, planting, renovating the ancient stone terrace walls, timber frame building and various things to help make the Mulino an even more beautiful place.

We will practice yoga together in the morning and share delicious co-created meals and well as daily mediation practices. After lunch, your time of your time will be all yours to use for group hiking, resting, reading, writing and any personal creative projects you may wish to bring and be nourished by the calm and beautiful surroundings.

The six bedroom, 39 acre property is a challenge for me to renovate on my own - but many hands make light work! If you are interested in this idea and have an area of the renovation - gardening, building, sewing, painting etc that you would to offer, please get in touch!

If you’re interested - use the form below and let me know!
